Exchange Club of Downtown Honolulu

A strong America, safe communities, and unified people.

Family, Community, Country

One of the primary missions of the Downtown Exchange Club is to assist in the prevention of child abuse in Hawaii. Over the years, the Club has raised over a million dollars for the prevention of child abuse with the Celebrity Auctions.

The weekly lunches feature speakers on topics of interest. Every Hawaii governor since the Club was established has spoken to the group.

Mission

From a handful of members in Detroit, Michigan, at the turn of the 20th century, Exchange has developed into a progressive national service organization comprised of tens of thousands of dedicated men and women serving their local communities and advancing the motto of “Unity for Service.”

Exchange is “America’s Service Club”. From the organization’s earliest days, Exchange Clubs have been selflessly serving their communities. The diverse array of Exchange-sponsored programs and projects has made a considerable impact on America, enhancing the lives of countless men, women, and children across the nation.

The prevention of child abuse became Exchange’s National Project in 1979, at the 61st National Exchange Club Convention.

To uphold its National Project, Exchange provides a variety of public awareness materials designed to help inform and increase awareness of child abuse and how it can be prevented. Such projects are implemented through Exchange Clubs and Exchange Club Child Abuse Prevention Centers across the country.

Exchange was the winner of a Presidential Award from the White House Office of Private Sector Initiatives, is a charter member of The National Child Abuse Coalition, and is a Partner in Prevention with the Children’s Bureau, Administration for Children and Families, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
